I have about £300 to buy a new desktop PC, its won't be used for gaming just web browsing, some video editing and encrypting and video playback.

I've been browsing ready built systems but may decide to build this one depending on what works out better.

Any advice would be great please

And a case + optical drive for that matter :)

If you have all the above, you could get a fair decent system for £300 if its just the motherboard/cpu/ram you need....maybe psu as well depending on what you have already.

I have a 22" monitor, decent keyboard & mouse etc. I just need the case and internals.

I have an optical drive (dvdr/rw) and a 350w PSU.

Well when he said he needed a desktop PC i assumed he would need a case and all the drives.

But a TFT will take quite a huge chunk out of the budget, as would an OS

Hows about this, comes to £300 excluding delivery :

Not much difference to meatloaf really. Just built the above for my little sister and it suits her down to the ground. Same requirements as Shiner, but allows the odd game to be played without trouble.

And should you decide overclocking is necessary, the ds3l's the mutz nuts.

:)

Thanks for the suggestions, will these boards take the newer CPU's if I decide to upgradeat a later date?

Great I'm limited on cash this month as the missus has just refitted the living room with new everything so might be an idea I can upgrade the CPU & RAM at a later date :)
