I must be the un luckiest guy's alive when it comes to cars :(

Last week after having an erratic idleing I decided to check my spark plugs to make sure they were gapped properly (never checked when I fitted them) any way one broke (bit of the porsalin) and when I removed the plug to replace it some must have fell in

Any way 3 days later and lots of blue smoke, that means I'm burning oil right??

I'm guessing the bit of porsalin is ever stuck in one of the piston rings or it's damaged a piston.

A lad at work has offered to help me fit another engine which is kind of him, just need to find one now.

Had a quote of a local scrappers, they have just taken receipt of a focus with 60k on the clock, they want £300 for the engine but thats with out the charge alternator and starter motor, is this a good price?

Cars......

It's a Zetec SE, I've got a few more scrappers to ring and then it might be my only option anyway.

I'm thinking of asking if they can leave the engine intact and I will give them the alternator and starter motor of my current engine, as it's a lot easier for us when fitting.

Have you done a compression check to see if the rings are dodgy ?. It would be a shame to change the engine if it's just a gasket / valve seal .

I understand what you're saying and do aggree but theres other things I didn't mention.

The pistons had oil on them, the plugs were covered in oil also, it has an erratic ilde and it has been a troubelsome engine for the last couple of years.

I could start digging to find more expense than putting in a new lump.

Did you try swapping out the idle control valve? Think its a common fault with the Focus engine.

Yes i've changed the following

Idle control valve
Throttle position sensor
Cylinder head temperature sender
New plugs
Air filter
Oil change
Had it to three different garages
Had it on the computer / fault reader
