I need a new front before the bike is due a mot, this is my first bike/year riding so first time buying tyres. Size is 100/80/r17 currently its got michelin pilot sporty front and back, these have been discontinued the rear is brand new so im going to have to run different types. Ive been looking at avon dunlop or metzeler.

Any other brand/model i should look at obviously not interested in cheapy brands :)

Thanks for any help

Which bike?

I'm running Metzeler Lasertecs on my FJ and they're utterly fantastic!!
I have always been a serious fan of Avon tyres, but their newest ones are a touch naff and so I decided to see why everyone still raves about the Metzes - VERY glad I tried!!

If you can get a pilot road 4 for your wheel size then id highly recommend it, im currently at just over 8k miles on mine and am 1mm from the wear indicators

Bike is a yam yzf-r 125, the only metzeler Tyre they do in my size is the lasertec ones so I might end up with them, only thing is on there website its got performance ratings and grip is only 1 so how have you found them on your FJ? Obviously I'm only going to and from work and weekend rides out.

I think that's possibly an error, unless they mean less racing performance and more general usage - They definitely handle serious misbehaviour at licence-losing speeds!!
I ride a lot, every single day in all weathers and I am exceedingly happy on these. Avon are now my second-favourite for my bikes, with Dunlop and Bridgestone far behind.
