right...

just finished call of duty 2 - wicked!

Dont really fancy doom 3 or quake 4

done halflife 2 - loved it!

done far cry - found it too hard, so cheated, got bored...

I need a new first person shooter!!! any suggestions?

the pc is a bit long in the tooth too by they way.

Thanks guys

ya missed out the other recent biggie FEAR, get that 'en :)

As an FPS **** i reccomened that (as well as Quake 4 but if thats not your scene then fair enough as not everyone likes the same old Scif Fi UT look).

yeah, ive done fear too, forgot to mention that.

ive heard a lot about battlefield 2, but i always thought it was an online thing, is there a single player mission too? whats it all about?

i tried splinter cell on the xbox, it was a bit too hard for me

thanks for the help guys

Its online and you shouldn't get bored of it easily. Great fun. Give it a try. The demo i mean.

For online play definately battlefield 2! Its amazing.

I agree. Awesome game. Not very far into it at the moment. But i love flying about the map in a chopper. Great fun. Untill you get shot down :( lol

cool, thanks guys, i'll check some of those out i think.

ive tried a bit of online play, with call of duty and halflife 2, and i generally just get my butt seriously kicked, but i suppose its all practise...

thanks again

BF2 does come with 10 single player maps also. I have an aquired copy so I cant play it online, but I stil love playing it, on expert level some of the maps are quite a challenge, you can also choose wich side to be on, so in effect its 20 missions.

The special ops add on also has 7 missions but the 2 night ones on there are not very playable.

Also:

Pariah - enjoyable FPS halo kidna settings but much better than Halo.

Star Wars: Battlefront & BF2 - Not a fan of these, the FPS factor doesnt feel as good as other dedicated FPS campaigns.

Star Wars: Republic Commando - Great game

Medal Of Honor: Series - All great WW2 FPS games

Area 51 - This was really enjoyable too.

Chrome Specforce - on Chrome I got stuck after the terminal puzzles got harder lol
GUN - I wasn't keen on this GTA Western style and your fingers get all tied up when your on the horse.

Good FPS not mentioned so far:

No One Lives Forever 2
Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault
Halflife
Unreal
Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy
Deus Ex
Deus Ex: The Invisible War
Call of Duty & United Offensive expansion

With the exception of PA, CoD:UO and DX:IW these should run fine even on a "long in the tooth" PC.

There's tonnes of good games out there, my problem is I haven't got time to play all the old ones, even if no more games came out this year!

I second Deus Ex, excellent RPG/FPS. If you like technology and stuff. Its got a great storyline too. Or just mindlessly attack and kill street tramps and zyme junkies lol. Wish i still had it but my cd is cracked.. :(

I liked 'Line of sight vietnam' online, it was a small community so you always saw the same players, and from this a few clans formed. There was some excellent CTF sessions that went on all night (had to be night as all american, but its the best time to play, 3am and no job next day, them were the days).
