Hi all, my pc is now over 4 years old & now it wont play any of the new games that are out, so i need to buy a new system & i thought some of you guys might be able to help.

My present pc is a - ATHLON 64 PROCESSOR 3000,+512MB RAM NIVIDIA GEFORCE FX 5200 GRAPHICS CARD.

I will pass on the above system to my daughter, so i wont be upgrading it as i will need a more modern/updated system

I am not that clued up on what to buy as i dont know the jargon & what does what. i just want to be able to play battlefield 2142 as ive been playing for a while now but now my pc wont play battlefield 2142 and it wont even look at C.O.D.4, CRYSIS, WORLD AT WAR, as i mainly play 1st person shooters so what do i go for ??? something that will play smoothly.

ANY IDEAS, what to buy and where do i buy a new system im looking for a good gaming pc budget of between £300-£500.

Please help as i dont know what to go for.
Buckdude.

You could probably pick up my rig for a very cheap budget actually, and still able to run all games on high with a very nice frame rate tbh.

Nvidia 8800 GT 512mb
Intel E7200 (finally overclocked it today after seeing some benches to 3.00Ghz)
4gb corsair xms2 - soon to be 8gb
creative Fatal1ty gamer edition
600w OCZ psu
and i wont even embarras myself about the hard drive :(

but this system is running all the games out there with a nice frame rate 1280x1024 as thats my max res on my stupid monitor i have tried this system at higher res' and its runs perfeclty fine too.

If however you want a meatier system i would recommend a quad core and the new 260/280 nvidias of 3870 iirc thats the new one anyway yep those gpu's or some form of quad core or possibly even the i7 (quite pricey too though).

For gaming i recommend a Duo (E8400/E8500)

I know this spec is £115 over what you said your budget is....

But for good performace and good gameplay this above spec will play all the games you have listed very smoothly :)

(I also play all the games you have listed too)

I have not put an OS ontop of that spec,Coz you might have one already,But if not that i deffo recommend Vista Home Premium (to take full advantage of the DX10 gaming :) )

Do you need a monitor, mouse, keyboard or operating system?

Paul's spec is good but I will make another cheaper spec just incase you can't stretch the extra £115.
