Hello

My 9800gx2 is dying on me and im getting a bit sick of sending the card back to ocuk only to have them send me another card also with a dead core so after waiting 3 weeks for another and still no joy i masewell upgrade my card, just i'm not sure what to go for now as ati is meant to be just as good as nvidia.

I dont want to spend too much as i go away soon but enough to play bioshock 2 and assassins creed 2 and also cod5, what would you suggest? I want to try and stick with single core cards in future from having problems with multi cores dying on me and micro stuttering issues.

Hope you can help

Thanks

What res do you game at?

From the sound of it 5770 1GB would seems to be your best bet. It's probably slower than your 9800gx2, but it is a capable card that can run games even in 1920x1080 'ok' at the £120-140 price mark. For the games you mentioned it should handle them fine I think. Or if you don't need dx 11 support, you could try to find at HD4890 at around £110+.

Sorry yeah i game at 1900*1200 res with a 24" monitor..ive been reading through a lot of reviews and it would appear that my 9800gx2 is faster than most cards even the 275 and 285 in a lot of cases :o, i would like to get a card that i'm going to see a difference with if i can as i rarely upgrade my kit, last time i had the money to spend £350 on the 9800gx2 but this time it isnt the case, maybe its not worth upgrading at all, going off the reviews ive just seen :o
