My Aiwa HTDV90 decided to die the other day after a power cut. Whenever I try to switch it on, it turns on , flashes the word "Protect" on the display then switches itself off. Still does this after a full reset so looks like its dead. So I'm after some reccomendations for an equivalent system in the upto 450 quid region. I know the purists will say you should always get separates but my telly already looks like mission control Houston with all the games consoles, sky box etc but I'm really after an all in one system to reduce cables/boxes and clutter. The htdv90 is a combined dvd player and 5.1 surround decoder/amp, for me the sound and picture quality was most acceptable so I'm looking for something similar. Any suggestions gratefully received.

I've been very happy with my Denon 500SD. You can get it at under £400 online now. It really is a good piece of equipment, highly regarded and well reviewed. Build quality is great and the sound is fantastic. I now have my Xbox 360 running through it too, brings a new dimension to games.

I did some digging on the Richer Sounds site and spotted the Pioneer RCS55 all in one system, it had the added benefit of being a dvd recorder as well. At £370 this looks like a good deal, has anyone got any experience with this bit of kit, or Pioneer stuff in general?

BIGGEST PROBLEM

is with the inputs, id recommend you get a model with at least 1x Optical and perhaps even 1x Coxial.

Be advised many of these units do not have additional digital inputs so that means no 5.1 from ANY other source connected.

The better ones are approx £350+
I can recommend the Sony DAV-DZ 700 with wireless rear speakers its not like a good AV amp but is pleasing for a living room surround experience without the look of a Hifi shop.

Cheers for the info, I think I will be going for the Sony DZ700, it seems to get good reviews on various forums. It only has 1 optical input but I've since found you can get 3 into 1 optical switch boxes for only 8 quid so that will cover things for me nicely.
