I moved house about 2 weeks ago, the new house I've moved into has 2 lines, a fiber optic and a copper line. I asked Nildram to move my account over to the new house, it was meant to be activated tomorrow, I gave them a quick call today to make sure everything is going through.
Just been told the order has been canceled because there's something like DACS on the BT line and they can't do anything.
I think their referring to the copper line because they said they couldn't offer me adsl on the fiber optic line.

I need recommendations on a new provider, I'm not too worried about download speeds, 2mb has always been enough for me in the past, of course more would be nice. My main concern is that I play online games, FPS/MMORPG's so I'm looking for low latency.

My brother uses virgin cable (machine i'm on now) but from what I've read on this board, their not 1 of the best. But I'm not sure if I'm getting that mixed up with virgin ADSL.

Also what is this DACS thing, should I talk to BT about it?

DACS being present on a line is not a reason to cancel an order though, it is a delay, but if BT do in the end cancel the order citing the DACS as being the reason then it may be that it has been determined to be uneconomic to remove it.

I think that's what Nildram has told me, BT won't remove the DACS

Do you actually have the option of cable where you are?

I believe so, my brother already has virgin cable, but I'm just worried about using it for gaming purposes.

I just checked with Virgin Media and they don't allow for more then 1 account in the house :(

I think we might be able to work something out, but my concern is that he is a VERY heavy downloader, is there a way to use a router to ensure I get so much bandwith?

I tried talking to BT about the whole thing, got chucked from department to department until my phone battery run out.

Just talked to BT and it looks like I can't even get BT Broadband.

I asked about all the DACS thing and they said it's all down to wholesale, nothing to do with BT, and if they say it's not economically viable, then i'm basically screwed.
No idea who to talk to next about this.
