I'm currently using Nildram as my isp, on a crappy little BT exchange in the middle of norfolk. My maximum line speed is 1.5mps with download speeds around 170k maxed out.

Nildram used to be a great ISP, and I liked the 1 month contract terms. Now they have been bought out by Tiscali, they have turned into a more business orientated isp it seems, and the traffic shaping is a joke. In the evenings I cannot watch anything on iplayer or e4 etc, until around 11pm unless I put up with stuttering every few seconds. Gaming can be hit and miss and its not exactly cheap either :(

My exchange doesnt seem to be LLU enabled, but will switching to a new isp make much difference?
I've been looking at the Talk Talk pro package, with phone deal. Also looking at NewNet and Vivactiti.

Anyone out there with a decent deal for a slow exchange isp?

zen seem to be pretty favourable at the moment.

i'm currently with adsl24, there have been speed issues recently and they've changed their minds on what hours are available that DON'T count towards your download limit.

but due to my poor connection the speed issues don't affect me.

I'd recommend BeThere.

Obviously you wouldn't get their 24mbit package because of line length etc but the basic one they do would probably be good for you. Their Customer Service is very good and from what I can tell they don't do any traffic shaping and don't plan on doing it either.

+1 on Be*.

Can't fault them. Only niggle is the Thompson router you get supplied, not too fond of it.

Im currently looking at the TT Pro package but that is LLU sadly. TT do seem to have the widest network of LLU exchanges tho.

I was considering the plus net pro package before that as they prioritise gaming traffic which might suit your needs.

Well dont feel too downhearted

Im just moving into a flat near Tower Bridge in London, less than 5km line length from the exchange (as the crow flies its about 2.5km but the line seems to go all over the place) and its LLU enabled

but I can only get 3mb max due to terrible wiring between the property and the exchange

very frustrating indeed :(
