I have a 2011 Vauxhall Corsa with only one key. The fob is tatty but still remote locks/unlocks the car and starts the (very tiny 1.2L petrol) engine. I have no ‘red key’ such as is given with new Ford cars, etc.

What are the cheapest options for getting a new remote-capable key that will start the engine? I hope to keep the current key as a spare.

I would ask on a Corsa FB group or forum for the best answer. May be a member in of said site that can do it..

Contact a local auto locksmith. Most will be able to supply and code a new key - or it'll be a job for the dealer or Vauxhall specialist

Do Timpson offer such a service now?
All branches will supply replacement key parts and will cut key blades, but only certain branches can actually program them.

Better off with a proper auto locksmith or vauxhall independent unless you just want a cheap spare to manually unlock the doors with.

Timpsons took the insides of my remote ‘flip’ key and renewed the case (identical), battery and blade for £50.

I can get a non-remote 2nd key (opens car and starts engine) for another £75.

you do not need to present the V5 or invoice when asking Timpson to copy your key as far as im aware, if they ask, you will need proof of ownership (The invoice when you bought the car)

The V5C logbook provided by DVLA is not evidence of legal car ownership. Instead, it states the name and address of the registered keeper as the responsible owner or driver of the vehicle.
