Hi all,

I have currently got
HP Notebook - 15-bs158sa
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-8250U CPU @ 1.60GHz
16GB(upgraded myself)
465GB SSD(upgraded myself)
16GB RAM(upgraded myself)

but it is a bit slow now, need something a bit faster.

Have anyone seen any good laptop deals by any chance?

Maybe something like i7, 8GB of RAM( or less as can upgrade myself), SSD, 15.6" screen with HDMI port?

What's your budget?

If you're only using your laptop for movie watching when connected to your TV, then I'd just keep what you have and upgrade your TV with a better display if you haven't already.
 
That laptop is more than capable enough for Windows. Plenty of RAM, quad core CPU, and SSD. It shouldn't be slow. My desktop PC is older than that CPU, and it's more than capable enough. Perhaps do a fresh install?

However laptop as a media player source is a bit clunky, won't offer framerate switching, doesn't have IR remote control. I'd recommend a small Kodi based media player.
 
I’ve got an old laptop I use for the same purposes.

It’s an 11(?) year old Acer - i7 2720QM, 8Gb, 512Gb SSD - and it works perfectly.

Maybe a fresh install would speed yours up a bit? Unless you just fancy a new toy….
 
It's possible 4K is causing a issue, usually GPU's have hardware video acceleration to take load off the CPU.

No way will that laptop be slow for regular Windows.

Just get a Nvidia shield or something like that, or a Kodi box.
