My Gigabyte P35C-DS3R has gone belly up so I am looking for a new motherboard. Price range is £100. I prefer gigabyte motherboards and it needs to be a 775 socket and I'm not going to SLI.

So suggestions! :D

If you don't plan on using SLi or RAID you could save yourself some money and get the Gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3 Intel P43 link.

I would then spend the saving on 4gig of memory link (if your sig is still in date) – as you will see a significant increase in overall performance for your money.

Additional: Do you overclock and do you have a third-party cooler?

If not to both you could also buy a third-party cooler (approx £15 for a budget version - link) and get some more MHz out of the Q6600 - it should hit 3GHz comfortably with out too much tweaking.

The above clock with 4gig of memory would be a tidy little boost to your system for a very limited outlay.

I should really update my sig! I own 4gb OCZ bladez so I just really want the best motherboard I can recieve for my budget. Is Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3P Intel P45 anygood?

The motherboard was already a RMA'ed item so Im not sure if the warranty still exists. Anyways I would like to upgrade for the sake of it :D

P45 are great so is the X48 - but as you're not using SLi or RAID(?) - you could save yourself some money.

If you want a deluxe future proof model that's Gigabyte then you could get the Gigabyte GA-X48-DS5 link for just under £100 - but you would be paying for a lot of features you wouldn't be using. There are always ASUS models to consider - but I understand if you're looking for familarity.

ye that one looks great - but what extra features will I be getting with the X48 to the P45

Very few i imagine - at a glance the X48 has DTS.

Both boards are packed with features - a lot of which you wont be using - but at least you have options available to you in the future.

Either chipset will be serve you well if you want to spend £100 - if not the P43 is a rejected P45 chipset and is only £60 but has a smaller potential FSB and memory.
