Need a new monitor, suggestions appreciated

The wife has signed off on a new monitor! I'm currently using a Samsung 2232BW & have wanted a monitor with a higher res since I got my new PC ~1.5 years ago. So I was thinking of a 3840x2160 & since she's still in mourning about the size of the case, a 24" would probably go down better than a 28".

Any suggestions? I was thinking of a Viewsonic VX2880ML ('cause it's cheap, though it is a 28"), alternatively there is the Acer K242HQ.

Not sure how well a 780 will drive 3840x2160.

Yeah, I was just wondering whether the gfx card would cope, based on a few posts here...

Edit: If 4k is a bad idea, what about a g-sync monitor?

Not sure how much a gimmick freesync and gsync are they seem a lot more expensive.

your 780 will not run 4k well, i got one of these and love it-1440p seems like the sweet spot for gaming!

Get either a Benq gw2765ht or Dell U2515h. The acer is poorly built.

yeah the acer is a budget monitor but still has a decent panel if you can get it at a good price, i got a B grade one on oc's for £199
Benq and dell are better choices at that price though, i would go with Benq cos 27inches is a better size for your desktop at 1440p

I bought the acer, dell, and benq and kept the dell. Superb monitor for the price, would have bought the 27 inch model if it weren't £200 more...
