i do have a lot of other easy stuff like gfx upgrades that i have done before but nothing that could seriously damage my pc

Any advice guys?

does cost dictate or ....

There are a number of questions you need to ask yourself, such as :

Do I want dual core (2 cpu on 1 chip)
Do I need SLI / crossfire (2 graphics cards running together)
How much RAM ?
Will I overclock? - What about cooling , new case needed (probably!)
Is the PC for home office type use, or games only , or a mix ?

Give these answers and people can steer you better....

Cheers for the replies

I dont need dual core or two graphics cards as i dont have a lot of money to spend i only have about £100
i would need min 512mb ram at probably the max i would need would be 2gb
pc is used for both gamin and office work but not cpu intese games, i play half life and op4.

I dont usually overclock my hardware as a just incase

Hope my answers help

If you only have a £100, stick with what you got and try and save a little more money, I reckon around £300 mark would stand you in getting a new MB and CPU.... and possibly a low end Graphics Cards, but for the games your playing they would handle it no probs.... also upgrade in memory needed to DDR 400 to get any real increase....

Gigabyte K8NSC-939 nForce3 250GB (Socket 939) Motherboard £56.34

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Venice 90nm (Socket 939) £117.44

XFX GeForce 6200 256MB DDR TV-Out/DVI (AGP) £52.82

OcUK Value 512MB PC3200 184pin DDR Memory £28.14

Total £254.74

Also assuming you keep your case, PSU and Hard drives/cd roms... the MB comes with onboards sound and network card....

Hope that helps a little....
