A mate of mine who lacks the brain capacity to open an account here has asked me to post this for him

Gigabyte 7950 3GB AMD Radeon Graphics Card
Corsair Vengeance Green PC3-12800 DDR3 1600 8GB 2x4GB
intel i5 2500k @ 3.30

upgrade motherboard pls anything under 130 would be nice

Essentially he is looking for a new motherboard. The quoted stuff is his current PC spec. Max spend of 130 quid.

What size case? M-ATX, ATX?

That's the case he has atm. He is also looking to purchase a new case, so either size mobo should be fine (suggestions on cases would be appreciated too - around 100quid on that tops).

Does he have an aftermarket cooler/does he want to overclock?

Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 for the new case (~£70), ASRock Z77 Extreme4 for the motherboard (~£85), Phanteks PH TC12DX for a CPU cooler so he can overclock a bit if he wishes (~£45).

I would buy a Gigabyte z77-d3h, 83£ at OCuk and some low profile cooler, maybe Prolimatech Samuel which cost 35£, add a 120mm silent fan on top and works perfect.
Gigabyte have much better rma so I wouldn't even think of lesser brands like Asrock.

Not sure I'd class ASRock as a "lesser brand" they are still top notch.

I have an old Cooler Master HAF 922 (mid tower). They're hard to find, since it's an older model, although some retailers in the US are still selling them.

You'll need to get a PSU (anything around or above 500w should do the trick)
