Need a new motherboard

Hello all,

My motherboard died; my stupid fault, was air dusting and didn't leave it alone long enough to dry off and it fried. I need something that'll work with an intel 2500k (1155). My old motherboard was an Asrock z68 Extreme4 Gen3. I would like it if I am able to overclock my CPU. My budget is unfortunately £100 at the moment. The other parts to my build are:

  • Iceq 6950 HD Turbo X
  • Intel 15 2500k
  • Corsair XMS3 8GB (2x4GB)

I know it's a bit of a stretch, but this was unexpected (mostly my fault) and I don't have a lot of money on me at the moment. I'm about to write my dissertation for uni so I'm urgently needing someone to help me out :(

Many thanks

You will have to search second hand for a Z68 or Z77 board.

Might be easier for you to see what you can find and afford then post back the make+models to give you a yay or nay.

Ok I'll do that. I'm also open to recomendations as well, just want my computer back because I use it for a lot of my game development work. Initial finds are:

ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 s1155
ASUS P8Z68-V LE
ASRock Z77 Extreme6

I really don't like getting a board for a single graphics card, but I don't think I'm in any position to be picky considering I have commitments...

The ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 s1155 I mentioned I have found for £100
I've also found a GIGABYTE GA-H67A-UD3H going for £59.95
I've also a lot of GIGABYTE GA-H61M that are signficantly cheaper, but I can only assume that because it wasn't built with gaming in mind.

Would I be shooting myself in the foot if I went withe Gigabyte UD3H?

Edit: My case header has USB 3, the UD3h doesn't seem to have usb 3 port, and I don't really fancy going back to usb 2

edit 2: Biostar H77MU3 I've seen a couple of Biostar around but I have never heard of this manufacturer before

Edit 3: Found a Fatal1ty Z68 Professional Gen3, problem is that it is quite expensive. I've also went through a couple of reviews and noticed that quite a few people had rma theirs since the release. I'm tempted to place the order but I'm worried that it might come dead on arrival. Not sure if the guy accepts refunds either

The first three I mentioned support SLI+Crossfire, the D3H was crossfire (16X/4x) only.

The UD3H does have USB3.0 internal header along the bottom edge and ports at the rear.
