Need a new motor thinking about E61 beemer

So what can people tell me about these on here? Owner experience appreciated.

My old A6 1.9tdi is getting a bit tired so it's time to start looking for it's replacement.

Thought I'd just go for a 3.0tdi A6 Avant but I've got my eye on the E61 beemer now instead. Ideal world would be a LCI 530i sport but there are only two for sale in the UK.

Is the pre lci worth looking at? Thinking I need a 6 pot petrol in my life. MPG on the A6 has been brill but am not to bothered as long as I can get 30's on a run. Company pays 45ppm up to 10k or I can always get a hire if it doesn't pay.

Anyway am going to hit the search button and scour what's out there for sale.

Budget is up to a max of £8k but less would be better.

I've had two of these now, both were 530d's mind you.

I cannot rate them highly enough, such a nice car to drive. I will say this though the petrol engines in comparison are sadly gutless and that hurts coming from someone that knows historically a proper BMW should have a 6 pot petrol lump.

The LCI spec is 'possibly' worth waiting for but its very similar in look and feel to the pre LCI models in my view and the engines were virtually unchanged in both diesel and petrol varients across the ages.

I'm not anti-diesel a mate has an impeccably maintained and well specced pre-lci 535d and is wanting to upgrade to an M5. If it became available I'd have it in a heartbeat.
