Need a new "MP3" player, but cant find one that fits my needs!

Hi,

so I currently have a Cowon D2+ MP3 player

and whilst it has most features that I need/like its missing support to playback
MP4 Audio/ACC files.


So I was wondering if anyone knows of a similar device that will play those files types? but also meeting these requirements:


- Accessible as MASS_STORAGE directly, no special software needed to get files on to it (which excludes all SONY/Apple devices)

- Small enough to use at gym, either hang round neck cord or in pocket
(which excludes some of the larger small tablet (ish) devices.

- Also expansion via SD card would be very nice.

- Ability to skip to any point in a track/file (via the touchscreen for example)


I didnt think these would be that hard ot meet, but everything just seems to be Apple/Sony devices!

I don't use my phone because it's just a pain to be worried about the battery life plus it's way too bulky for a lot of my uses.
 
All mine are flac/mp3 @320kps, but as I recall iTunes use AAC downloads - a lot of people use iTunes as their media player, its a possible explanation (although I must admit, I wouldn't download formats not supported by my media device :p).

I think the Clip Zip issue you found there is almost exclusive to Clip Zips, I've used AACs/mp4s with my Clip+ in the past with no issues.

OP, could you not save yourself some money and just convert your current file formats/reacquire them?
 
I gave my Mother a Zip as a present a short while back, I shall dig it out, rockbox it and the experiment - but that wont be for several weeks and so is useless to the OP.
 
if OP is used to cowon quality then I would suggest fiio.

fiio has a x3 and a x5. no idea if they support those file types though. a quick look through their specs would let you know.

fiio quality would be better than the cowon too i imagine.
