My trusty flip phone from years ago finally decided to be a jerk and stop working...
So I'm in need a new phone, and I may as-well enter the smartphone market.
Been looking at the motorola moto g as a standard android phone but at £159 for a unlocked sim-free model is alittle bit of a stretch.
In regards to the moto g, is it even neccacary to buy a sim-free unlocked one?
Been looking around and you can get a unlock code for like £1.99 on ebay for the moto g....
If i bought say Tesco's http://www.tesco.com/direct/tesco-m...-black/398-8016.prd?pageLevel=&skuId=398-8016 or from somewhere else which locks it to vodaphone etc
Would I be able to unlock it with http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Motorola-Moto-G-Mobile-Phone-Unlock-Code-/111223239973 for example?
Thoughts?

All the Android fanbois will say the Moto G or Nexus 5 and either have a massive argument or a circle jerk. Yep, as expected, every single time there's an I need a new phone thread without fail this happens! LOL

Probably because its very good advice rather than any fanboy'ism.

Moto G recommendation from myself, was my first android device and have to say I can't go back to iOS or Windows OS as has been my last two devices.

I used to think the Apple fanbois were bad, but every single "I want a new phone" post the the Nexus 5 and the Moto G fanbois just jump on and start a massive circle jerk. EVERY time guaranteed!

You're just plain wrong in your constant assertion that people are fanbois not just wrong tiresome with it, why do you do it dude is something in your life upsetting you?

Amazing. If someone has a preference they're now called a fanboy?

Also, by posting this it sounds like you have a better suggestion. Care to enlighten us on what this phone is that is far superior to the Moto G in the same price range?

Lumia 520

£59.95

If you're a mod-head like most Android users on this forum, Moto G. If you want out of the box, no need for the latest and fastest but still give a smooth user interface and most apps you'll need, Lumia 520 with WP8 (with 8.1 update in the Horizon that adds a shed load of core features)

Horses for courses, not everyone wants an android which at stock, needs a little work, esp. someone coming from a feature phone.

Just cause you can mess around with Android doesn't mean you need too, both my parents have Android devices and none of them change anything and it works just fine. The L520 is a solid device for the price nothing beats it.

I doubt most people are Moto G fanbois, it is just a solid cheap device, comes with near stock Android and got 4.4 before almost every device out. For the price its basically a no brainer, when compared to everything else in the price range it has better screen (720p vs qHD/480p), 1gb ram, quadcore cpu, solid build.

Nexus 5 is the same, if your on a budget nothing really comes close too it.

But your clearly butthurt.

Not used the Lumia 520 but I will say the Moto G is a good choice for Android/smartphone newcomers. It's very much a 'stock' android experience i.e. no bloatware.

I don't actually care, just amuses me why anyone bothers to start a 'I need an new phone' thread because the Android fanbois jump all over it in seconds and have a massive circle jerk, every time!!!

I couldn't agree more. For a truely successful circle jerk you would want an iPad - much greater aiming area and easier to clean afterwords due to the high quality smooth surface.
