Need a new PSU, but which one?

Hi, I recently upgraded my PC but I'm maxing out what my current PSU can handle

Under high loads the PC shuts off which isn't a surprise since it sometimes pulls 850W from the wall.
I've not even had chance to properly OC my 5970 yet so I'm after a 1kW PSU but there's too many to choose from.
The two I like most are the Enermax Revolution85+ 1050W (and the 1250W version since its only £25 more) and the Corsair 1000W.
Which, if any would you go for?

what is your current psu then ?

850W its a hell of a low of power, thats the kinda power draw you expect from tripple SLI, not a single gpu.

it sounds like your current one is not very efficent at all, and is pulling considerably more power than it needs.

a stock 5970 should draw about 300watt

My rig is in my sig. i7 is at 4Ghz (~200W) 5870 OCed (~200W+) 5970 OCed (~300W+) then there's all the other components and fans etc so it soon adds up.

your probably correct that you need that sort of wattage, both those you mentioned are more than upto the job, search for the best deal

HX850W. The 750w is a great psu, so the 850 certainly will be

ah yes, with the extra 5870 it would use quite abit.

personally i would go for the corsair 1000W

OC ships 650watt PSU with its 5970 and i7 rig so something like 650-850 should be just fine. Just make sure its a good brand, if you want 850 just to be safe go with soemthing like this.

A decent 800W PSU should be able to run an overclocked Core i7 920 and a pair of HD5970 cards:

I've decided to go for the Corsair 1000W. It has longer cables, is £50 cheaper and has a five year warrenty. Was reading through the Enermax support forums and X58 chipset compatibility seems a bit hit and miss and I don't want to take that gamble even though I really like the Enermax.

hi folks,ive just bought this little lot and unsure about what wattage power supply i should invest in as i will probably addd another 1 of these toxic cards at a later date what would be a safe bet? thanks

i would go for either the cosiar 1000w or the be quiet 1000w both very good psu's and are very reliable
