Need a new PSU

Those 'what ifs' are very difficult to predict :p

Get the XFX 1000W like beejjacobs mentioned that way you can accommodate all types of future hardware.

It'll be not as efficient in power terms until you get a really loaded rig but if you're spending that much on a system then I guess the extra in the electricity bill wont matter.

Isn't the XFX more efficient then the AX850 at most levels?

It does seem to be a bit more efficient at a lot of different loads. I suppose that one would be best to choose if you don't know what possible hardware you will be putting in the system.

Chosen to get the AX850 for two reasons, one it is cheaper and two the XFX only has a 5 year warranty.

As for the AX850 there is still one more thing that I am concerned about and that is the EPS 12v, what motherboards use the EPS 12v and can you use four pci-e and the ATX 12v at the same time?

All high end boards now use the EPS12V, maybe smaller sized and cheaper boards use the P4 plug but I haven't seen many.

AX850 might have longer warranty, but you've got to post it to the Netherlands for an RMA which costs quite a bit (especially if you insure it).

I think XFX has an RMA base in the UK.

So you are saying that with a high end motherboard, X78 or something, I cannot have dual graphics cards that require two pci-e each?

I don't see why you can't, from what was said earlier in this post the AX850 has 2 x EPS12V cables, I haven't seen any motherboard with 2 x EPS12V cables.

I suppose the two cables are needed if you have a dual socket board (1 cable per CPU as that's what they supply power to)

Unless you get a dual socket board (not many unless it's a server board or very specific) which needs the two cables you're fine.

Sorry I was being stupid, misread an earlier post, I was under the impression that you could have either 1x ATX 12v + 4x pci-e, or 1x EPS 12v + 2x pci-e.

Now the only question is should I wait for tomorrow's deals in hope that it will be featured.

If there is going to be some deals on tommorow then sure, ordering now you still won't get it tommorow. Tommorow when the deals appear if you order early you can get it delivered for the next day if you require the PSU urgently.
