Need a new PSU

I currently have Corsair CX750M, it is my second as the first has horrible coil whine. At first I suspected it to be my GPU but then putting my old GPU back in the whine was still there. I have my eye on these two,

Now, I am a bit wary buying the XFX because I bought one before and it died within 24 hours but I know they are good.

Will you be X-Fire in the future or will it remain a single card setup? A 550W will be perfect for a single card.

XFX is rebranded Seasonic so they are a very good unit. Stuff can fail be damaged in transit or be DOA, that's life I'm afraid. If your mobo properly supports Xfire/SLi a decent 750W PSU is a sensible option

I'm not planning on X-fire anytime soon, but it would be nice to have the option.

Sorry!! I've just seen your sig. The Z77-DS3H isn't a true Xfire mobo (the PCI-E lanes don't run in sync) so getting a 500W unit would make sense to most. However you should own it for quite a while (PSUs have long warranties) so if you think you will upgrade the mobo in the future to give you Xfire/SLi support then a 750W PSU now isn't a bad call.

personally would go with the seasonic, they make really solid psus and...it looks awesome too

Ah, I just saw it had crossfire on the mobo so assumed it was compatible. I have seen my local shop has a corsair TX750. How is the TX series? Much better than CX I presume?

XFX have a terrible repuation for warranty thats one brand i would steer clear of.

but the psu are made by seasonic so they aren't likely to break quickly

This, you may as well consider it 12months (As you'll be able to return to retailer in this period)

Personally I'd opt for the Seasonic, OcUK will cover the full warranty period too so no need for sending overseas after the first 12months.

Yeah but it depends who deals with the Warranty if XFX deal with it even if they are a solid PSU i would take that into consideration.
