Finally upgraded my old 1366 socket PC that was inside a Lian Li v2100 plus 11 wanted something smaller and wanted it on my desk.

New PC purchased off a friend so having to use my old GPU at the moment.

AMD 5800x
ASUS ROG STRIX B550-F
16GB RAM
Radeon HD 6670
Lian Li Air Mini Case

At the moment I am using a very old Corsair HX620, I found it quiet when on the floor under the desk but now it's next to me I can hear coil whine coming from it and it's annoying. I don't game but I do a lot of video work, I will be looking at a better card in the next year or so as well. I can't make my mind up on which PSU to buy I know I can buy a low powered one but I'm looking at 850w for a future build.

PSU's I have in mind are (I have a budget of £180)

Have put this in mainly for the 12 year warranty and again it's a seasonic

The 1st 2 are my main choices but would it be worth paying the extra for the prime!

Thanks for any help and advice.

Cheers Grimley, knew it was a Seasonic build that was another reason I had that has a choice as well.

I might wait a bit end of November see if I can get a better deal on it, the pre-order price looks a decent price for it.

Had beQuiet PSU before which was solid, no coil whine. A 750W was copping very well with a 3090. Only the fan was annoying when the PSU was mounted vertically (O11 case).
Tried two Corsair, Platinum, coil whine.
Now Seasonic. First was a Focus 850W Platinum. No noise at all. No coil whine, silent fan. Changed for a Prime 1000W, no coil whine, but I can hear the fan. Not intrusive, but my whole system is almost silent.

I've had to take the HX620 out the coil whine and the fan was getting worse, so at the moment I'm using a Seasonic Core GC-650w I got from a member on this forum. I'm happy enough for now no whine but the fan is a bit loud I can live with that for now.

The Seasonic 750 or 850 prime is probably the one I will end up with, the OEM for that Bitfenix PSU is a no go for me I've had CWT PSU's in the past and all have been very poor.

Was using the Seasonic Focus Platinum before the Prime I’m using now. Both no coil whine, but maybe luck or not, but the Focus I wasn’t able to hear the fan, the Prime I can, but nothing absurd. Also, only if I choose to let it on all the time, but the main reason for a semi passive PSU is to only spin the fans under load.
The fact that my case is at the left of my desk and I didn’t like the looks of the O11 Evo inverted, the PSU intake is pointed at me, maybe that’s the reason I can hear it. But the whole system is almost silent. When the GPU fans kick in, they’re the only thing that I can hear.
There’s other options manufactured by Seasonic too. I found their price fair for what you get.
The only thing I disliked about the focus was the 8pin GPU power cable. They split at the end, making hard to tidy up without a hanging connector loose. The prime doesn’t. A single connector per cable, simply connect and forget.
I didn’t bother with cable extensions or replacement braided cables as I need 3 8pin for my GPU and all replacement kits I found only offer 2. Extension is easier, as you can buy an extra 8pin, but for now, the supplied cables look ok.
