Need a new quality Gaming mouse.

Bog standard PS/2 mouse here! (yes PS/2, not USB) Does exactly what a mouse needs to do! But if you must spend money on a mouse then I'd say the Logitech G400 or G500. I believe the G500 has onboard memory to store DPI profiles etc, the G400 does not. I know this cos I use the G400 with a Xim Edge for the PS3.

Drat, the Corsair M65 was looking good until I read comments that the "sniper" button is too far forward meaning you either have to move your hand or have it further up the mouse making the other button less comfortable. Exactly the same problem I have with my RAT 9 so I've never used the extra button :(

Back to the drawing board...

That is weird, when I hold the M65 my thumb is right over the sniper button.

Can take a picture when I get home if you want?

Can always try it and send it back within 14 days if no good :)

I recommend getting a mouse that doesn't have a inflexible, rough, teflon cable. It catches the edge of the desk and makes it harder to control the mouse. Thinner standard rubber cables are so much better.

My old Razer Lachesis + wooden desktop was near flawless but both the mouse feet and the desk were worn out so were replaced with Steelseries Xai + 9HD which just doesn't track reliably or as smoothly.

Interesting... Hmm... Do you rest your palm on top of the mouse or use a claw grip holding it primarily with fingers on either side? I find on my RAT 9 that if I hold the mouse far enough forward to be able to reach the sniper button by thumb is then too far forward for the back button. (I never thought there was so much science to how you hold a mouse :) )

I always used to do the claw grip and think I still do, the design of the M65 is for a claw grip but the rear does extend out enough to rest part of your palm on it.

I will take some pictures of how I hold it once I am home. I am using a Razer Imperator 2012 in my office and missing the M65 and K70 combo!

Ta... sounds like it's worth a try.

Crappy phone pictures but you get the idea.

Sniper button is right there, was using it quite a bit in Metro over the weekend without any issue.

And you can kind of see how the rear of the mouse can rest on the top part of your palm.

No problem!

As long as you don't have small hands I don't think you will have any issues with the sniper button.

Saying that though, even without the use of that button the mouse would still be brilliant.

M65 turned up this morning and I have to say I'm very impressed, so far it's an improvement over my RAT 9 which was already a great mouse. Very pleased. Thanks ^JP^ for the help choosing. :)

No problem, Glad you are happy!
I was a Razer fan for about 12 or so years since the Boomslang ball mouse but I am so happy now with the Corsair and just spreading the word :D

Logitech G400 - does the job fine.

All you get for spending more is some useless extra buttons and a larger size.
