Needs to be FAST! And have good range as I'm located 2 floors up. Doesn't need fancy features. I have come across the Asus rt-n56u which seems to get good reviews. Is this worth it or am I just paying £100+ for the good looks?

thanks

Netgear WNR3500 Rangemax Wireless N Gigabit Cable Router
I just upgraded to this from an older Netgear wireless g router as I too needed better range for the Ipad 2 in the garden hehe
Works a treat with Virgin 50MB and massive range.
They're about £90 new but I picked up a refurbished one from the website based in jersey for £39.99 - works great.

Virgin cable supply either a modem, or the superhub. The superhub is both wireless router (with 4 wired ports) and build in modem. I hear the wireless is crap though! It is a Netgear under the cover though.

I personally have the superhub feeding my 16 port switch and a dedicated wireless access point running tomato firmware.

I'd recommend the E4200 as well. I have an E3000 which is amazing. The E4200 has higher USB throughput, 450 Mbps bandwidth (not many adapters support this speed at the moment however) and if you're not happy with the stock firmware, there's always DD-WRT.
