Need a new sound card or dac

I wasn't going to put my xonar dx2 in this new PC but I still have to record a few hundred more old radio shows I recorded years ago.

I just installed it and it keeps clicking off and on the sound like when you 1st install the drivers. Though every hour or so it will just make that annoying click sound. I had a look at the card and the 4 pin connector seems a bit flimsy like it's coming off the board, not really interested in fixing it either.

My problem is do I buy a new card! No idea which one? Do I buy a DAC which one?

The board I have is the MSI X870E Tomahawk the speakers I use are the old Corsair SP2500's I don't game just need a decent enough device with decent sound and that run my speakers and I can connect my tape deck via a 3.5mm jack not seen one with RCA inputs.

My limit is £200 max so thanks for any advice.
 
If you're happy with the quality of the onboard with your speakers, you can get USB adapters for transferring cassettes and vinyl to your PC for £10-20 on the rainforest.

I've had great success converting lots of analog audio using a behringer UCA 200 DAC. about 30 quid and lets you hook up RCA in and out, usb connection. no drivers needed. Try to get the older one, not the newer 202 that's not as good.

The onboard sound isn't good enough hence me wanting a sound card. I have a Nakamichi zx7 so need something decent to match it not a cheap USB adapter hence why I didn't rush to purchase any adapter. I have gone the onboard way before and the recordings sounded dull so a decent card with decent amps would be the best way. I used to record them straight onto a Pioneer Pdr609 but that was more time consuming.

Sorry yeah I think it's the 202 I used a few of, but the 222 has different and inferior cirtruity. I mean you can spend anything from £30 to hundred on a DAC. As for amplification, check the Tangent-Ampster-BT-HiFi-Amplifier this is £150, sounds great, has various inputs, bloetooth as well, optical, will take the rca from that other dac. £200 gets you a great compact setup. I have used this before with classic mission 76 series and it's really nice.

if you feel you don't want that DAC but still want decent on a budget look at Topping DACS. these are very very good for the money. But the cheaper ones dont do ADC like the little behringer. Depends if you wanna do recording. or just playback.

That Tangent-Ampster looks ok but it's too big for where I want it going not got much room left on the desk. The fosi is also looking nice and I do like the old vu meters. I will probably end up going to Richer Sounds and have a look at that and some others.

I've re-soldered the connection back on xonar and it is working fine but I am still going to get something newer.

Tangent ampster is very small, it's about the size of 5 dvd cases. But the fossi does look smaller, does it have external PSU? If you need smaller maybe you think about powered speakers if you don't have any speakers already. Edifier units are pretty decent and affordable. I have some 1280s i think. great close up monitor style nearfield sound from them.

It looks deep on the picture I didn't look at the dimensions the size of it in the picture is deceiving. I may have to build a small shelve for something like that. I have the Corsair SP2500 speakers no need for any new ones.

I'm going to phone Richer Sounds in Sheffield 1st see what DACs they have and pop in sometime if they have the fosi.

the corsair 2500 are already powered speakers they are 2.1 units ? you dont need an amp
 
I didn't say I need an amp mate I was asking for a sound card to replace the xonar but I need a decent one that will let me attach a cassette deck to and not a cheap device one with decent amps.
