Hi everyone,

Been a long time lurker on here taking in all the info, not been much of a heavy poster.

Now I'm starting to use a lot of CAD software such as Catia, SolidWorks, FEA, StarCCM etc.

My current setup is:
Intel Quad Core Q6600 2.4 GHz
4gb Ram
Nvidia 8800 GTX
650W PSU
Thermaltake Tsunami Dream Case

My system is well overdue an upgrade and running the software above can be very slow at times.

Here's the setup I've been looking at:
Gigabyte Radeon R9 280X Rev2.0
Intel Core i5-4670k 3.4GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150
Gigabyte G1.Sniper Z87 Intel (Socket 1150) ATX
Toshiba SSD HDTS212EZSTA 9.5mm 128GB
Avexir Venom Series 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Memory Kit

I'm open to a new more modern case, would ideally like to keep the PSU but if it has to be upgraded then so be it. I've got plenty of HDD's laying around I can use as secondaries but would like an SSD as a main boot drive. Unsure on what CPU cooler to go with?

Budget is no more than £900, can build myself that's no problem. Not necessarily looking to overclock but could be nice to have the potential.

Any advise or offers for better specs I appreciate :)

Thanks
Adam

PS Sorry I don't know how to link to the overclockers basket

I'm open to am AMD setup no problem, I did read that AMD is better suited to CAD work but I haven't got a clue with AMD products

Thanks for the specs listed so far though :)

Forgot to add, will be used for other stuff like Microsoft Office, internet browsing, music etc.

Well I decided to go for the Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2 Mobo after hearing very good things about, might put me a smidge over a budget but I hope its worth it, and I also like Asus's UEFI Bios it's a nice touch to have.
