Looking for a good PC game to play. FPS or driving. Any ideas as to what you would class as a worthwhile game for me to buy? My PC is quite up to date so no need to worry if my PC can play most of the newer games.

Best to state whether you're after a driving simulation or game.LFS is a superb sim and game but not for everyone.Flatout 2 is a superb game but not a very accurate driving simulation. Both are great fun to play but cater for very different people :D

Fear,Prey,Halflife 2 and Farcry are all excellent FPS games..plus for mulitplayer dont forget Counterstrike.

Half-Life 2,
FEAR,
Quake 4,
Prey,
FarCry,
GTR,
GT Legends,
Live For Speed
Then slightly different:
Deus Ex,
Knights of the Old Republic,
Jedi Knight II

The new flat out 2 game is great, I loved flat out 1 for the pc. So many countless hours on that game, but for multiplayer i would get CS:S, very big community

Another driving sim - netkar pro

Be warned, this is a hardcore sim, and although it's a full release, it's still buggy and incomplete.

No AI, cockpit view only, damage model forced on.

Small, but devoted following, and sure to grow after the next version / patch is released. Best driving physics engine so far in many simmers opinion.

How about Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines? Not an FPS as such, but still a damn good game. Well worth a play.

Seconded. Is Redemption any good btw? I've also been looking into Bloodrayne2, I've played the Bloodrayne demo. But can't seem to find a decent download server for the BR2 demo.

I am currently playing Hitman: Blood Money. I love the series. heh.

GPL? Yes it hasn't got the best graphics but damn is it a good racing game. Don't even bother trying this game though unless you have a wheel.

Redemption > Bloodlines

In all fairness they are two different games, but redemption came first and has a much better story line. It's got a pretty good audio score too.

I never got round to playing Redemption. I kind of lost interest after I found out you could only play as two clans (Brujah and Gangrel I think). Which are probably two of my least favourite clans!

If it runs on XP I might be interested in taking a look though.

And Bloodrayne 2 is awesome! The controls take a bit of getting used to, but it's a really cool game. I just love Rayne's dialogue in it. Definately take a look at the demo if you think it might appeal. I never found a decent server either, I just got the torrent file (for the demo) and left it going for a day or two. Slow but worth it.

Driving games.

Rfactor or LFS for online circuit racing and RBR for offline Rally action.

I am not going to do my usual RF promo BS as recently i have mellowed. What i can say is that RFactor is my current number one racer and Yes i do own LFS. Between the two has to be personal choice as i know some excellent racers who prefer LFS and some who prefer RF. So get the demo's have a thrash and pick your own personal favourite. It's worth noting that RF offers a money back full trial period so it can be tested fully where as the Demo is very dated and does not show the game at its best.
Another thing to note is that LFS is very much pick up and play, as soon as you have the game you can join any track and any mod/car set.
RFactor comes with a base set of cars and tracks but it's open source so you do have to do a fair bit of searching round and downloading tracks/mods etc
Either way they are both brilliant games and the two leaders in the field.

Richard Burns rally (RIP) is a must have for any PC Racer it's awesome in every way. Handling is terrific with an excellent feel that totally draws you in to the game. Without doubt the Number 1 Rally game available.

FPS.
Has to be BF2 and especially since the 1.4 patch is due out any day. I have over a thouand hours logged on this game and i am still not bored.
Nuff said. :p
