AoE 1 and 2 will be great as you'll have quite a few nations to choose from
starcraft is great, bit shame its got only 3 races if i remember right

for some pure fighting action older Total War games, only played them on LAN so not sure if you can do it over the net

Ah yes, the Total Way games are quite cool too.

StarCraft only has three races but they are hugely different (unlike most RTS games where they're just recoloured with one or two different units/abilities).

Age Of Empires? Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds is an awsome old RTS used to play that with a mate on my old laptop so the graphics are pretty low spec think I only had an 8 or 16MB graphics card in it lol.
