I need to get a Dell Optiplex 745 upgraded to play games for my uncle, the main problem is it's a fairly small chassis - Dells SF case.

Dell do offer one card:

Radeon X1300 Pro 256 MB PCIE Graphic Card
ROHS Compliant (Half Height) for Dell OptiPlex 745 MT/DT/SF Desktop System
£80 + P&P

Anyone know of any alternatives? apparently I can get a riser card that'll let me use full height cards in the system but I'd have to figure the extra £25 into that.

Just another way for dell to charge you 4x as much as something is worth

Atleast when I had a dell it had a full sized case so you could fit any graphics or PCI card you wanted. What exactly is this half sized gimic they have now?

EDIT: Realised I never answered your question. The 7600GT (£55~+VAT) would be about twice as fast as that radeon card. The X1300 wouldnt be able to play any decent games. Was never a good card. Complete ripoff for £80.

the x1300 is really not a gaming card, but I'm not 100% I understand what you mean by 1/2 hight cards?

Cheers Darg!

Yeah he ordered the SF case as he wanted something a little smaller than the standard one. Nice enough case but annoyingly little expansion (which I told him when he ordered the damn thing.) I mostly install Dells at work but obviously it being a school we rarely have to upgrade!

The cases are thinner than normal so the cards can't be the normal size sadly  bloody small form factor cases! :D
