Hi guys

I have a phone on O2, and the reception in my area is marginal to say the least.

I cant switch contracts at the moment, so have to make the best of what I have got. I get 1000 off peak mins a month, which is perfect for me.

I use a Nokia 3410 currently, but am just wondering if anyone can think of any Nokia phones which have fantastic reception & really hold the signal like a b**ch !

Any ideas gratefully appreciated - I will be buying the phone offline, so cheaper is better !

my k800i is actually really good which surprised me greatly. Better than my 6230 and even my 6310i (backup phone). I get almost no reception at work and i was going to have to change to a different network, getting the k800i meant i didn't have to :)

Get the car phone warehouse brochure and look at the SAR ratings. These refer to the amount of radiation that the phone puts out. Subject to a view technical variations (antenna directionality etc) this correlates to the signal strength - it also correlates to how much radiation you are exposing your brain to. The more powerfull the phone and the further you are away from the mast (phones ramp up the power as the base station signal gets weaker), the wiser it is to use an earpiece.

I dont think SAR has much to do with reception...Ive had phones with low SAR levels eg 0.60 for my last nokia and reception has been much better than phones Ive had in the 0.90-1.10 range!

Nokia's Ive found seem to get the best reception - SE ones Ive had have not been as good!

I've got a Nokia 6680 and the reception is pretty amazing compared to my mates LG Choc and my old 3310

Yes go nokia for the best reception. had a go with all rest over the years and the nokias have always come on top. motorola were ok but seem to have lost the plot now.

Just as an aside, but at the underground car park at my work I never could get signal on my 6230i (most normal mobiles were bad) and could just about recieve calls let alone make them, but on my Vario II I still get weak 3G and can make crystal-clear calls easily - both on TMobile, but I doubt operator really makes a difference as its all relative...
