Need a portable Video and MP3 player but need advice

Ok I am wanting to get a device that both plays video and music.

Now as I see it I have 3 choices:

1. Get a portable DVD player - The only problem with this is that I will have to carry a load of music CDs around and burn the songs i have on my computer to disc. I do like the big screen on this though for watching movies.

2. Get a PSP - I love this little thing. Only thing is its got a small memory so i can't put a lot of music or video on it. Also I have some DVDs like my Babylon 5 boxset I would want to play on it, can I do this and how would i? Also the screen size isn't to bad so watching a movie won't be too bad.

3. Get either a Video Ipod or the Zen Vision:M - Now I am leaning towards the Zen but again can i take my Babylon 5 DVD's and get them on the Zen at all?? Can the Ipod convert the DVD's at all??

So what would you advise i get?

Archos AV500....

2nd - the 60gig one I saw before xmas for £300 -

Both the ipod and zen can play dvds - but only if you convert dvd to divx or another format suported by the player.

Another option is a pocket PC - get a Rio cabon for £70 - take it apart and remove the hardrive - it will plug strait into the CF slot on the Pocket PC and you will have a pocket PC with 6gig of storage!

Brilliant thanks for that suggestion Kamakazie. Thats exactly what i was after. Now i have found the 30GB on for 290 inc delivery, but I havn't used this online retailer before so am a bit wary.

But I have found the 60GB one at a high street store that is well known, but its 350 but I if it does go wrong i don't have to post it off i can just pop in there.

So is it worth it to get the bigger version?

Archos AV500 all the way I have the 100GB version which I got from QVC before Chrimbo when it was their TSV with a spare battery. Had the AV700 from them earlier last year but sent it back as the screen was pants. The AV500 is superb beautiful screen and nice and portable.

I rather like the PSP tbh. I was blown away by the playback quality of films on it and the screen size is not an issue. There are facilities to be able to playback divxs etc and store your music mp3s. Plus more importantly you can play games too :D I have a 2Gb card which is plenty enough storage for entertainment while travelling long or short distances, be it film, games or music. One final note to point out - if you are travelling with your PSP and see someone else with one you can always ask them if they fancy playing head to head :D

It may sound a bit clunky but I use an Asus WL-HDD with a 40g lappy hdd to send mp3's and avis to my Dell Axim x50v. Downside is having to convert all my dvd's to avi and carrying 2 bits of kit around, but the Axim has many other uses.
