According to my current specs and the PSU Calculator i need atleast 1157 watts, i am using a Silverstone 750... my Galaxy will not work!

QX6700
Asus Stiker
SLI BFG 8800GTX
2gb OCZ Flex
7 HDDS new case = 6
8 120mm fans
1 100mm fan
3 CCFLs
CRTV X-Fi

What does this PSU look like to you all?

HERE OINK OINK

I can't believe that you actully need that many HDDs... can't you cut down at all?

Maybe... problem is that is the ONLY place on the net to have ANY info on that PSU not to mention they are a US company only, will not ship anything over 1KG to the UK

7 HDDS use less than one of the GPU.
i have 4 150 gb raptors - 2 mirror - 1 games - 1 progs
2 - 750 gig for RANDOMNESS

WTF! a 750PSU to power the lot?
Seriously....
The CPU alone would like the best part of 400 W - GPU 300W each.

erm just no. go look up the power usage of a gtx. whole systems are using 350w with a gtx in. my 620w corsair will power two 8800gtx in sli with a quadcore cpu AND room to spare.

cpu? 400w? that is just insain

.....So, I got along to assemble a test system with a choice of components: Kentsfield 2.66 GHz, ECS PN2 SLI2+ Extreme board with Nforce 680i chipset (the maxed-out reference design), two Spakle 8800GTX 768 MB cards (one the standard variety, the other is Peltier-cooled Calibre we tested recently) in SLI tie up, 2 GB of Corsair XMS6400CL3 tried and trusty twin DIMM set, running well at 1066 speed too, and Evercool's just arrived Nighthawk water cooler - the size of two DVD drives in a unique combo (either internal or external) config......

......Power usage? Better than expected!
Now we come to the sweetest part, proving the point. Yes, after over 2 days of running heavy stuff in this overloaded (700W++ class!) system config, the 500W MGE power supply is still alive and well. I spent quite a bit of time monitoring its LCD display power spike reports, and the highest one was 429 Watts, consumed during the full 3DMark06 run (Proxyon landing at UXGA 4xAA anisotropic filtering). I managed to take a quick blurred shot of one 423 Watt screen for your viewing pleasure. In the 'typical' use (i.e. running the Ntune utility and opening up a PDF file) it was at about 315 W, and it went up to nearly 330 W when running Sandra benchmarks.

where the hell do people get pluck these power requirements from? id be tempted to try the seasonic 700w or the OCZ 850w. either of those really will give you more than enough headroom.

as i said!
I have already got a SLI 8800GTX Certified PSU of 750, i dont see any reason to change it for a lower rated PSU that is not Certified?

you estimates are way WAY over the odds. psu calculators are rubbish. if your silverstone is working then you should be fine, but i'd place far more confidence in seasonic unit of a similar rating. that doesnt mean change the one youve got. thats really up to you.

I agree on the estimates, but cmon! you can see why... that calculator leads you astray.
The Seasonic is not SLI Cert from Nvidia... i am not going to waste anymore money if what i have is working OK, anyway i can test the power on it? make sure there are no spikes or anything.

I guess you could run some software (Asus probe tracks voltages) and see if you get any spikes / droops under load.

But I'm really struggling to understand what you are asking / commenting about.

Are you concerned that your current PSU wont work or laughing at the silly power calculator or asking for advice on monster PSUs?

I am lost at myself now mate!
LOL
I am asking what others think to my problem really, do i have a problem?
Am i just going OTT with what i read/hear RE power hungry gear i have.

and i am also asking what people think the that Tiger PSU?
