My newly built PC keeps restarting whilst gaming. It's fine in windows. Looking at Event Viewer shows that ATI is reporting an error just before it freezes and restarts itself. I've tried Omega drivers which helped the game run for longer but ended up with a restart. I've used intigrated graphics in the game (at lower settings) which runs fine.

Does this sound like the Graphics card is broken?

I was also thinking maybe the PSU isn't giving it enough juice. And the possibility of an nvidia chipset being incompatible with an ATI card ?

Any help would be great, really am lost with this...

Spec:
Amd 64 s939 Venice
Gigabyte K8N51GMF-9 nForce 6100
Corsair 1GB Value pc3200
Aspire Qpack (420w PSU)
ATI x1600 pro 256mb

Thank you.

I would try using the prime95 torture test, as well as using a monitoring program such as SpeedFan to monitor your CPU and system temperatures. Using these will either rule in or out the graphics card. :)

There are no issues with ATI and nVidia chipsets so that wont be it.

What version of the ATI drivers are you using? Try an earlier version such as 6.4 or 6.3. If you still have trouble try the card in another system if you can. If you still get issues then deffo RMA

I have used 6.4, and omega 6.3 both the same result. At least I can rule out incompatibily :o. I'll try that prime95 program asap, but have to study for an exam tomorrow right now.
