Need a quiet desk fan

I'm after a quiet desk fan, and have utterly failed to find one. Don't care about build quality so long as it's safe (taking the cage off, though it works, isn't safe), or airflow so long as there's some, but it absolutely must be quiet when running (let's say 40 dBA max). It's to go on a bedside table.

Mains powered please, size 6-9in, max budget £50 (so no Air Multiplier then).

Anyone got any ideas please?

Don't buy one made by honeywell.

Have you looked at tower fans? We've got some at work, and they're a lot quieter than traditonal ones. If you can find a short one it'd work well on a bedside table.

Got a tower fan already. It's quieter indeed, but doesn't suit the job. Thanks for the suggestion!

TBH I did not even hear the price of these things and yes I am sure they would be more than £50 hehehe DOH.

Smoke and mirrors

It's an overengineered overpriced fan. I didn't watch the whole of the sychophantic "review" as I've already seen the fan elsewhere and found out it's not what you would hope it was.
