Need a reliable cheap runner

Hello,

I'm looking for a cheap runner as I am looking to start some serious saving to fund imminent travelling in the (hopefully) not so distant future.

1 - 1.4 litre, cheap tax/consumption etc and is reliable.

Any suggestions? Have decided on going against anything french so far!

Currently selling my EP3 (http://pistonheads.com/sales/2629593.htm) so tbh any car will probably be a 'cheap' compared

Had a Mitsubishi Carisma Sport 1.6 for over 4 years. Think I paid £650 for it at the time it was 10 years old. Never had a problem with it. Great wee car

VW Polo mine was £700 flies through MOTs 1.4 cheap tax good on fuel and mines a 5 door very spacious (I have a 3 yr old).
