I'm looking for a good replacement for a X1800XT for under £80 the rest of the spec. is E6600, GA-965P-DS3P and 2GB Ram. Running XP SP3 Res 1280x1024.

This machines mostly used by my mum for Surfing, Second Life, The Sims 2 and Counterstrike Source when her grandchildren visit!

The only card i can come up with is the 4670 but i'm not sure if thats much improvement over a X1800XT

Help!

Please :)

The above card will be fine and a good improvement. I would look around to see if you can find a 8800gt for around the 80 mark or maybe a 9600gt/3870. All the cards i mentioned will be a nice step up from the 1800xt. The 4670 you mentioned will also be a good step up from the 1800xt as it swaps blows with the 3850 in different games. What resolution is the pc's monitor.

The Monitor resolution is 1280x1024

I've been trying to get hold of a 2nd hand 8800 GT but no luck :(

Is there a big diference between the 8800 GT and a 4670? also I've found a 8800 GTS 320MB and OCUK as a 8800GT 256MB both under £80 would either of these be a better buy than a 4670?

Thanks

Is a 2nd hand BFG 8800GT 512MB worth £80?

Been offered one on another forum but I was thinking It's very close to the price of a 4850!

Actualy I've just found somewhere selling brand new 8800GT's for under £80

No you can get a new (albeit not BFG) 8800GT for £80.

Given the game requirements a HD4670 / 9600GSO (96sp) / 9600GT would be more than enough if buying new. Heck even the dirt cheap HD4650 would be enough.
