Right. My DG834G has just given in, so I am going to need a replacement quickly. I've done a search on the forum but didn't really find the info I am looking for. I'm tempted to get another DG834G but I want to see what else is available since it's been a while since I bought that.
I have the following requirements:

Must be able to port forward as many ports as I want, unlike Belkin and Linksys, (essential)
Good range
Easy to use interface
Reliable (essential)
Line stats readings
Local Address Reservations
WPA-PSK
Must be no more than £50

Is the DG834G still the way to go?

Reading about on some other forums, I hear that the DG834G has problems with Intel pro/wireless adapters. Is this a known problem?

Are they integrated though?

Done some further reading and it's probably going to be between the Netgear and the Speedtouch 585, anyone care to sway me in either direction?

I've been using a DG834G v2 with various wireless devices (mainly an Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200BG enabled laptop).

A very reliable piece of kit.

The Speedtouch 780WL ( to be had for around £40 at auction has wonderful voip thrown in. Has the Broadcom chipset which makes for excellent connetion speed and hanging on to a poor line - there is perhaps nothing better in this respect!

I'd stick with the DG834G, the only other one I'd look at would be the DG834N but that's out of your price range.

There's a lot of 2wire 2700HG or HGV adsl routers available at the moment or the BT business line equvalents (BT model needs unlocking or a fix)

They are cheap and meet all of the requiremnts. They are particuarly good at wireless range, line stats and hanging on to poor lines. On the downside they are big and ugly and the wireless is 54g rather than anything faster.

How reliable are these routes (Netgear DG834G/Speedtouch 780WL/2wire 2700HG/Speedtouch 585) when using torrents? I can't find much info on them. I've had to reset old ones before :( .

I'm looking for a wireless router for a similar price for a 2mb BT connection. Its pretty far away from the exchange so I think I'd need a router which is good on poor lines (is the Netgear DG834G?). I'm not bothered about 108Mbps but would like a good wireless range.

I used a DG834G v2 in a uni house for 4 years, battered every day by torrents/nntp by 8 ppl and knocked the shelf countless times when drunk people came back from nights out - it never broke. Sold it on ebay for 30 quid last week since I already have one back home. Fantastic router for the money.
