I have had Plusnet unlimited fibre (65 down/18 up) for about 18 months using the rubbish router they provide (Technicolour...blah, blah....crud!)

In the far reaches of the house the wifi signal is poor. I tried some TP-Link powerline wifi extenders which I wasn't happy with as I don't like clutter and they don't seem to alleviate the wifi signal issues.

So, I am looking for a better router. I believe some (?VDSL+) can replace the router and the Openreach modem in one? This might be nice if these are genuinely a viable route to go down. Are they effective and reliable? Suggestions and thoughts, please?

I don't want to spend more than about £100 which I know discounts a lot of the high end kit.

If not replacing the Openreach modem... I have been looking at Asus kit (is it called an RT-AC66U??). Would this be any good? Negatives? TVM.
