Hi

Is it possible to get a overclocked fast rig for around £400?

I have a hard drive and blu-ray drive already, I also have a Mak key for Windows 7, so I dont need those parts.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5850 Extreme 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card **OcUK Exclusive** £124.99

Antec High Current Gamer 620W Power Supply £49.99

MSI 870-C45 AMD 770 Chipset (Socket AM3) DDR3 Motherboard £48.00

Antec 100 One Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case - Black £43.99

OCZ Platinum 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C7 1333MHz Dual Channel Kit (OCZ3P1333LV4GK) £29.99

This would be ideal for you but the CPU isn't in stock, will overclock very nicely though;)

Either wait for a bit (shouldn't imagine it would be too long, start a thread in the customer service section) or have a little shop around online:)

Cheers for the replies, but I need to overclock :0

Never been happy at standard speeds, could put another £100 towards it?

Looks good, how far will the 955 goto? do you think it's worth throwing an extra £100 at it?

that is a GREAT spec (but over budget ;) :p)

Cheers, that looks like the bundle, is it easy to overclock?

My last rig was a Athlon 3800 X2, I'm sure it was the first dual core cpu? I may be wrong. combined with a Radeon 9800 pro, 1 gig ram etc, died many years ago, I've been gaming on a Alienware M11x, useless to be honest. :)

The i5-2500K and i7-2600K are childs play to overclock. It's just changing the multiplier until your unstable, then upping the vcore till you are, then upping the multiplier...etc lol most will get to at least 4.2GHz on air with ease.

No idea how easy it is with the AMD, can't help you there, sorry:(

Cheers, and that motherboard can cope with that? I remember many years back overclocking my Pentium 133 to 188 or something, it was scary as the cpu cost a fortune, all to run Magic Carpet and Doom 1 and II :)

Yep as long as you get a P67 or Z68 motherboard with a K-branded CPU you can overclock safely, some of the MSI boards even have an OC Genie II button which gives you an instant 4.2GHz overclock at the push of a button embedded on the board;)

would be worth considering the i5 for an extra £115, would be worth saving up for even if your going to use it at stock.

but, if you can't wait I would go with what ossian suggested.

Hi guys

Thanks for the help, so far I've ordered and received the 2500k, and the case, I'm getting there slowly but surely, what I'm think is it worth buying a motherboard for sli? Any recommendations please, one that can be overclocked.

Thanks

Cheers, I was just looking at your new setup, is the ASROCK 1155 Z68 PRO3 a better board?

Thanks
