need a scanner recommendation - fast and cheap

Hi,

Can anyone recommend me a cheap (approx £40) scanner. As fast as possible for the money, it will pretty much only be used to scan from books or journals for uni work, so only fast black and white scanning is necessary. (don't know if it makes a difference to speed turning the colour off or even if you can do this on most scanners?)

Canon CanoScan Lide 25 USB Scanner

(or the Lide 70)

Dont really know how fast they are but it should be a pretty decent scanner. Ive got the Lide 80 and its pretty good.

Epson Perfection V100

I got the Epson Perfection V100 Photo and the added benefit of doing slides and negatives, fast and quite cheap + it runs on Vista 64
