Need a second 8800 GTX :)

any brands will work togethor, the second card will clock up or down the speed of the primary one. So, put the slower one in the primary slot, or put the faster one in and run some tests and maybe youll get lucky and end up with 2 oc'd cards :)

No you can buy a molex to 6pin adaptor for a couple of quid. I ten to go for one real six pin PCIe cable and an adaptor per card, not that it would make any difference :p



Keep an eye out on the Member's Market, I got mine around 2 weeks ago for £35incl :D Next time you see one, find a thread where they have gone cheap and show the seller, though they go for anything between £35-50incl.

That would be a real good plan...'cept i'm too much of a forum n00b to get access to the member's market...will ave to check the bay, and hope i see a bargain there until my post count/member time here is high enough to get in..
 
I am currently running an Nvida 8800GTX and had all good intension of SLI but since i cant get a second one perhaps depending on price you could take mine and i could upgrade to the new NVIDIA GeForce GTX 295.

Let me know your thoughts and would the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 295 be better than 2 8800GTX cards in SLI mode?

Out of curiousity, how much would you be willing to pay for an 8800GTX??

I have an Asus 8800GTX here that is in my fiancees rig, but she doesn't really game a lot, so if the price is right I might just whip it out and put my old 8500GT back up card into her rig and sell you the GTX...

Though I have slightly modified it, I cut some of the plastic shroud off about a cm past where the fan is so that I could mount a fan directly onto the heatsink fins... it runs a lot cooler than it used to now, and it hasn't affected the card in anyway... it also makes it a lot easier to clean out the dust like this as well...

Like I said though, I will only sell it on if the price is right,, I paid £360 for this card when I bought it!!!
 
That's really cheap!!

If that's all they are selling for on MM, then I will just hold onto my one, I am not letting it go for £50... not when I paid £360!!!

@samhain, you don't have to spam the forums to get your post count up mate.. there must be some sections of the forums that you are interested in where you can post frequently??

I have only been here since December last year, and it hasn't taken me long to get my post count up... hell I have seen people who have been here for less time that me with over 1000 posts!!!!

I have been using the MM for only 2 weeks or so, and I have already managed to scoop up a couple of fantastic deals there... I love it!!!

@ DavyBoy, yeah, 50-60 quid is pretty much all a 2nd hand 8800gtx is worth now, if you would be willing to part with it something in that region, we could work something out. I'd drive and get it from you to save carriage, if you are anywhere near luton?

I have an EVGA 8800GTX thats gathering dust as I upgraded to a 4890 a few weeks ago. Have the box and should have all the original cables etc as well. I'm in Milton Keynes which isn't too far away from you so could do £50 if you wanted to collect it one evening.
