I've currently got a MSI 6800 GT in my Shuttle and its quite noisy. Seeing as gfx tech has moved on since I brought it I thought there may be a card available that is silent but with comparable or better performance?

Any suggestions anyone? Is there such a card?

AGP.

Can you remember what make and model you've seen?

SkeeterPSA, not really interested in modding a gfx card. Would rather just spend the extra few pounds and get one already done.

Gigabyte and asus have them but they were for PCI-E. Come to think of it im sure XFX did a passive cooled 7950GT.

Struggling to find a decent passive AGP card. Maybe a new silent cooler is a decent option

The trouble with silent graphics in a shuttle, is if the card doesn't have a fan it needs really good airflow. And it depends on your shuttle, but some (including mine) don't have great airflow. You have 3 options:-

1. Low spec fanless card. It won't be powerful but it will be quiet.

2. High spec fanless card . Like the XFX 7950 GT, but will need good airflow around the card.

3. Double slot / aftermarket near silent cooling. Both the accelero and the zalman ones are good, but two slots will be required. HIS are also pretty quiet

you're going to struggle to find something powerful and passive for a shuttle, i think some 6600gt's were made passive that used up the slot behind the card. the problem with passive solutions is they tend to use pipes which will not fit with the drivebay or they stick out too far.

my passive 9600xt, the fan died, tiny little thing and it doesn't really need much airflow. butchered using an ICE heatsink and a aeroflow block.

EDIT: what shuttle is it? is it AGP/PCI (can tell by the shuttle if you post it, along with if it is dual slot compatible)
