Need a silent printer

Hello,

I currently have a Canon Pixma ip3000 which is too loud. Can anyone recommend anything quieter? I dont care if it can do photo printing / cd printing etc, it just needs to print colour onto a4 well, fairly quickly and most important quietly.

Never in my life have I seen a silent consumer-priced printer. I don't think they exist.

I've heard that Dye-sublimation printers are silent apart from the paper drum motor, but I thought most ink jets these days are pretty quiet? Running costs of dye-sub printers are pretty much the highest arround, but you said quietness was the most important aspect

I have to admit I've never come across a quiet printer in my life though, but then again I don't print much

My Canon Pixma 600R is pretty quiet in normal Mode, but it does have a Quiet Mode, should go to there site and read into it.
