Hi all i am after a slim blu-ray reader for HTPC Fractal Node 605 Case and wanted to know what to go for and to look out for.

I want a queit playback as i ahve had 3 types of drive for my normal computer before i was happy, so silence is best.

what sort of drive would fit this case and is a good reliable drive

thanks all

Would something like this fit: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CD-158-SA.

That is a Blu-ray writer drive, so they are more expensive than read only ones.

I bought an external blu ray reader drive from ebay a while back really cheap (£15 i think), but i just couldn't get it working properly. The movies i played froze/scrambled for a second every now and again, just wasn't good enough for me, but i guess thats what you get for buying on a budget. I don know if it was because it was external and the enclosure was cheap , or the drive itself, but i saw it got a few mixed reviews.

Anyway the point I'm trying to make..

Stick with a good brand for reliability! :D LG and Samsung etc.

These laptop blu ray drives are slim and to be honest i couldn't hear mine when i used it :)

thnkas for the help so any slimline drive will do as long as its LG, samsung or sony or pioneer.

i was looking at the pioneer version but just wanted to make sure on the sound levels these make as i dont want to watcha movie and have a drive spin its head off.

cheers

I can recommend the Sony slimline BD-RW drive. I have only ripped blu rays using it but I didn't really notice it was on tbh. I had it in a Node 605 if that helps. There are also some nice fairly cheap usb enclosures for the slimline drives if you decide to go that route, which is what I am currently using.
