Hi there, currently got an Antec P180, which is, well, huge. Moving into uni halls this september to start uni of course, only I feel the P180 is way to massive to have in there. Any smaller sized cases I can downgrade into? Not *too* fussed about airflow, but obviously a reasonable level of cooling is required. Didn't really know where to start, pictures are misleading, best to come here really :o

Cheers,

First of all, are you looking for something to move your exsisting setup into? If so I'm guessing its ATX.

I'd reccomend one of the smaller Lian Li's, I have the G50, but there are others such as the A05 or the V600. Obviously the reduced size comes at a cost, with the G50 and the V600 you can't use a large CPU cooler, and the A05 has caused some people's PSU's to run slightly hotter than the average case.

PK!

Cheers, yep, ATX. Yeah, not sure whether to keep my current spec or not, still umming and arring about it. Don't quite want to go the Shuttle route, used to have one and to be frank found them a pain in the arse. What size is the Antec Sonata III in relation to the P180?

Sorry to go completely off topic, but what was it you didnt like about the shuttle? I'm thinking about getting one so I'd like to hear the cons for once!

PK!

Hehe no problem, well they've changed a lot now I imagine but I had one, must be a year and a half ago now, just so damn fiddly and I found it was prone to overheating. Otherwise no other problems but had literally just moved from a nice spacious Antec case to a shuttle, bit of a shock! It was good though, it could overclock provided you kept it cool, it was only a bugger if you wanted to change or replace something in the case you basically had to take the whole thing apart.

Have a look at the silverstone sugo's (picture of mine in sig)
Great cooling and upgradability, anything from silverStone is Great build quality.

U can also keep all your existing stuff just grab a new Matx mobo :)

What fans do you use in your Sugo? Is it silent?

I'd get an A05, personally. I have a G50 here which isn't bad though if you want a cheaper option. Mine is currently being modded for a dual water cooling loop :p

I had toyed with watercooling for my G50, as it would be a good solution for the limited space for a CPU cooler. I just couldnt be arsed to go through the expense and trouble as I'm not really an overclocker. I'd be interested in hearing how it goes.

Oh and sorry for wondering off topic again, I blame my natural curiosity!

PK!

I've drilled some holes for mounting the HD bay sideways and forward a little bit so I can fit a rad in the front. I've also cut out a hole in the top and fitted a radgrill. I'm contemplating a window but don't want to screw it up :p I need to get some money before I can start buying parts though.

@ OP, decide what case you want yet?

Been looking around, thinking on passing on the Silverstone cases, the A05 is certainly looking possible, nearly bought a Lian Li before my P180 anyhow. How big are the V1000 relative to the A05 and Antec P180?

Building a second pc based on a intel core2 and i ordered a lian-li A05B although i thought about getting a lian-li V300 but decided against it and i would give you my input on the case but city link didnt deliver yesterday so its going to be tuesday now  i am only having a sata dvd writer and a sata hdd so i might get rid of the hdd cage which should help airflow even though the case has good airflow anyway , there is a big thread here http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1133290 with people that have bought the case .
