Hi, my son has a part time car valeting business.
He wants a stills camera that will take good quality pictures of before and after he was the car cleaned.
He likes the DOF look, if at all possible and he can't afford to go too dear, £80/100 ish at most & would like it to upload the pics to FB.
Is there such a camera :)

Thanks in advance.

Does he not have a smart phone of some sort? Probably just going to be as good as a camera that has those sort of abilities.

Unless you go 2nd hand, and forget about the need to upload straight from the camera.

Hi, yes, he has a galaxy s5.
I would have thought it would have done as well but he say no,... I don't what he wants :)
This DOF took his fancy.

Thank you.

He can achieve the 'DOF' look using his S5 - tell him to do some googling - a £100 camera isn't going to be close.

The S5 used to have a mode that would provide an artificially small dof however, having just checked mine it no longer appears to be there or available for download. It is definitely possible and what I would suggest, instead of investing the money in a new (but definitely worse camera than the S5) that he spend the money on a nice LED light panel. Light is the key to a good photo :)

For 100 quid, you could maybe get a second hand, well used Canon 40D or something similar that could take some decent pictures... I remember seeing one for only 40 quid body-only not long ago.

Then there is the 50mm f1.8 lens available for about 60-80 quid second hand.

A touch over budget and you'll need to search around for one, but it can be done without breaking the bank.

This won't have the feature to upload directly to facebook however, he will have to use a computer or something similar to get the pictures off the memory card / out of the camera.

You can make some nice pictures with that combination though... check this link out for samples:

My S5 still has that selective focus mode, it works quite nicely especially if the light is good!
