Have a budge of around £300, Looking for a tablet to go on the internet, watching youtube and download a few decent game applications.

Could I have some suggestions and perhaps some links?

Tablets and expected prices:
  • Asus Transformer ~£300
  • Asus Transformer Prime ~£500
  • Asus Transformer Pad ~£400
  • Apple iPad (refurbished) from £220
  • Apple iPad 2 (refurbished) from £260
  • Apple iPad 3 from £330
  • HTC Flyer ~£240
  • Kindle Keyboard 3G ~£170

I would say save a bit more and get an Ipad 3 its worth the extra bit of cash.
If your set on Android though you can get a nice spec tablet for much less than £300.
My parents have one of the futeko a90 tablets which is around £140 and nice to use.

The new asus transformer 300. I think the target price is ~£300 its a dulled down version of the prime.

If it works as well as the prime then it will be amazing (apart from not having the primes wfi and gps troubles)

I'm in a similar situation with my birthday in July. One I have found interesting is the sony tablet s which seems to be around £330. Has anyone had any experience of these at all as I'm considering one entirely as it has PS1 games like crash bandicoot? Reviews appear to be good as well regarding the build and UI. the specs are pretty much the same as everything else, the only downfall is the screen next to the others as far as I can tell.

The iPad should be at the top of your list for those things. £300 will get you an iPad 2, I'd pay a bit more and get a 3 though.

my 90 quid A2 tablet came in today running ICS. Can't wait to get home and have a play.
Bought it for sofa surfing as my eyes are going from surfing with my ipod touch and the wife got a kindle fire so i just had to get a tablet as well and wanted to fully test android before buying a new phone (although my post about google play movies and music not being in belgium has swung the balance heavily in the iphone's direction.)

Having owned a Android Tablet and a iPad 3rd Gen, My advice would be do all you can to get the iPad, It's just such a great experience to use one. Also the App store is light years in front of Google Market/Play in most areas and iOS is a pleasure to use. Only thing anyone can really say against an iPad is the lack of customisation options (unless Jail broken)

I wouldn't swap my iPad for anything else, not even used my MacBook Since! But i am considering a sub £150 7" Android Tablet for Holidays and stuff where I would be a little nervous of taking a £550 iPad!

Post back with your experiences if you can, I'm interested in a cheap-but-decent tablet for when I'm sat watching TV etc too. I have an S2 but sometimes it's nice to have a larger screen instead of having to zoom in and pan around just to read something.

Well I used it last night, have to say enjoying it but it is really get what you pay for. It works but I think the batter life is going to be around the 3 hour mark compared to 10 hours for the ipad. This is my first entry into android and I still feel a bit lost still can't find the youtube app on google play! I did view a few flash videos though and watched youtube from the site and the video display was excellent easily watchable and comparable to my ipod touch. Viewing websites is ok as well although the default browser isn't that great tried dolphin but again it takes a bit of getting used to.

The only thing I experienced and not sure if it's a fault with my tablet or this price range but after a few rotations the touch screen seemed to be slightly out of sync with the display. (ie I would have to touch slightly higher on a button to actually have it react. If I touch where the button showing on screen it doesn't react. Again this is only after rotating the screen and seems to fix when I power off and on again. We are talking millimeters here but on a 7" screen it can be annoying I noticed it more in landscape more than portrait. But since i bought it mainly as a useful e-reader and browser it doesn't bother me too much if that's it's only fault.

I'll post screen grabs if someone can tell me how to do a screen grab from an andriod tablet? ;)
