*So I guess 12.1" maybe 13.3" would be ok.
*Really needs to be around 2kg or less.
*1366 x 768 res or higher.
*Multitouch track pad a big bonus.
*Need something more powerful than an atom.

I don't care about anything else.

Does such a beast exist?

I have a Sony Vaio Z and while they are very expensive they are spectacular laptops both in performance and aesthetics and worth every penny. Quite how Sony have managed to pack such a lot of high end hardware into such a small 1.49kg package is beyond me!

Mine consists of:

13.1" 1600x900 LED screen - Things look quite small with this res but I quite like it, gives a lot of workspace, you can opt for the 1366 res on cheaper models. One thing you'll be gobsmacked by on this laptop is the fidelity and colour rendition of the screen, better than anything else I've ever used.
Intel C2D P9500 2.53ghz cpu
4gb RAM
8x CD/DVD writer
250gb hdd
Intel 4500 graphics switchable on the fly (no need to reboot) to an Nvidia 9300 GS GPU
Wireless WAN so you can use 3g on the go
Carbon fibre chassis
With screen on half brightness and with bluetooth switched off with light use I've managed to pull about 5 hours of battery life.

The keyboard is also amazing as it uses isolated keys much like the Apple Macs, I find typing much quicker on this than any laptop I've ever owned, especially seeing as this is an ultraportable laptop you would expect typing to be arkward.

There are also of course the other options as suggested but I thought I would give you a bit of an insight on the Z seeing as I'm using one right now! :)
