hi,

i have a q6600 rev g0

4gb 800mhz ram system (650w)

320gb wd, 10,000rpm

with a 8600gt (i think it's a palit)


i don't game and would like a really snappy extremely quiet pc, that draws as little power as possible (save the earth...)

performancewise the 8600gt is more than adequate.the small stock fan on the 8600gt is not super loud but nevertheless annoying.

which graphics card could you recommend, that does not have an annoying fan.

i'm happy, as long as aero and blu ray playback (hardware acceleration, i.e. vc-1 decoding) are supported

hdmi audio from the card is also a must (i.e. an adapter must be in the package)

i've been looking at the ati hd 3450, which is fairly cheap.

would this fit the bill?

i am assuming my needs are pretty basic for modern standards, so the cheaper the card the better, as long as it doesn't slow down the rest of my system.

^^ LOL yet you have at 10,000RPM hard drive and a quad core CPU. OK. There not what I'd call quiet low power components.

As for the 3450, I have one in my HTPC and it handles bluray playback just fine.
